The Swaziland Project
Scouts, Scouters, their families, and their friends in central North Carolina are working with the Scouts and Scouters of the Kingdom of Swaziland to help them grow their Scouting program.  Our Scouting brothers in Swaziland want to create a farm at their Thirst for Life Scout Camp near Manzini in the Hhohho region.  We are raised over $6,000 to get the farm started.  This will cover the cost of a chicken coop, chickens, and bee hives.  The camp will provide training for the Scouts and starter stock for their own farms.  From the farms, the scouts will provide for their own families and for the nearest orphanage.

The Swaziland Scout Association is comprised of almost 5000 Scouts.  Their 5th International Thirst For Life Scout Expo occurred July 31 through August 11, 2009.  The Scoutmaster of Troop 600 attended the camp and met with the head of the Swazi Scout Association and his staff to plan how the create and run the farm.

We now are collecting money for the next project at the Thirst for Life Scout Camp, the creation of a Scout's Own Service ring.  This will be a place where the Scouts can gather for Scout lead worship known internationally in Scouting as "Scout's Own Service."  Local Troops will be collecting money at the Scout's Own Service they hold during their outings and during Scout Sunday.  Look for a listing here soon of Troops and their efforts.  For more information, please
