Boy Scout Troop 600 - Oak Ridge, NC
Boy Scout Troop 600

Troop 600 is a growing, active Troop. Our Scouts plan a wide range of year round activities. Each month, we take a weekend outing. Typical outings include climbing and repelling, caving, whitewater rafting, deep sea fishing, hiking, snorkeling, cycling, scuba diving, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, fly fishing, swimming, shooting sports, and snow skiing.

During the summer the Troop attends a week-long summer camp at Cherokee Scout Reservation.

Our older Scouts attend Philmont Scout Ranch, Florida Sea BaseNational Scout Jamborees and World Scout Jamborees. They attend week-long leadership camps such as National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE). They participate in Order of the Arrow (OA) activities like Fellowships, Conclaves, and NOAC and hold key OA leadership positions at the Chapter and Lodge level. And, they serve as summer camp staff at Cherokee Scout Reservation.

Troop 600 is open to all boys ages 11-17. Prior Scouting experience is not required.

We meet every Monday night at Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church from 7:00 until 8:30.

Troop 600 has founded three Sea Scout Ships, one Venturing Crew, and one Explorer Post (STEM). We will start a second Venturing Crew in the fall. Our older Scouts (ages 14-20) can join one or more of these units.
